Are Avril and Chad back on? 'We love each other deeply' Avril says on Junos red carpet

Is Chavril back on? 

Avril Lavigne and Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger walked the Juno Awards red carpet together Sunday night, further sparking rumours they're back together after announcing their separation in September.

Though the duo were all smiles as they stopped to talk to Devon Soltendieck, Avril dashed hopes they're back together after ending their two-year marriage.

"I came with Chad because Nickelback got nominated," she said. "And I'm just here supporting him."

Kroeger, meanwhile, was more than happy to have Lavigne on his arm. 

"I got tired walking around with my band members, so I went and found hottie here," he said, referring to Avril.

Nickelback received a Juno nod for Rock Album of the Year, and Kroeger will help present a tribute to Canadian Music Hall of Fame inductee Burton Cummings Sunday night.

Lavigne's return to the Junos comes after revealing her battle with Lyme disease last year, which left her bedridden for five months.

On the red carpet, she said with Chad's support she's taking baby steps to get back in the swing of things.

"I'm feeling so much better," she said. "And so it's nice to be able to do things like come to the Junos and ease my way back into it. I'm grateful to have Chad and his support. And the support of my family this past year, and just to be getting my life back really."

This isn't the first time since their split that the former couple have stepped out publicly.

Back in February, they posed together at Clive Davis' Grammys party. 

"She asked me if I wanted to come with her to one of the Grammy parties and I said yeah sure," Chad explained. "So we did that and that was fun, so I said 'You want to come to the Junos and be my date?' And she said okay sure!" 

Lavigne and Kroeger have also been working together musically, which she revealed last month via an Instagram post in which she's grinning widely alongside her ex.

"We started working together in the studio, and we do still work together, and we've maintained our friendship like we love each other deeply," Lavigne said. "And that's something we want to keep, and that's important to us."

Back when they announced their separation, Lavigne wrote on the social media site that they'd forever be "the best of friends, and will always care deeply for each other."
