Angelina Jolie's kids have taught her to 'rediscover joy'
Angelina Jolie made the TIFF premiere of her film First They Killed My Father a family affair Monday, bringing her children along for the event, and sharing the valuable lessons she's learned from them.
“They’ve taught me to rediscover joy," Angelina told our Danielle Graham as she entered the Princess of Wales Theatre. "They’ve taught me about how every day all that matters is that the people you care for are healthy, and they’re focused on the right things; that they're good, decent human being who have empathy for others. And so they keep me aware of all that I should value."
Angie posed for photos with her children outside, before they filed into the theatre before her. Almost a year after announcing her divorce from Brad Pitt, she says their six kids are a constant reminder of how good people can be.
"And they keep me laughing. My life -- I wake up and I care for others, and that’s what we should all be doing."
When asked how she manages travelling with her large family, as she has in Toronto, Angelina says it's simple.
"Honestly, they help me," she says. "They’re older now. The older ones help the younger ones and we’re just a big tribe."
This caps off a very busy couple days for Angelina in the 6, with her first public appearance on Sunday for the premiere of The Breadwinner.
Angelina smiled as she entered the theatre with four of her children -- Vivienne, Shiloh, Knox and Zahara -- and emphasized her love of family to our Traci Melchor.
Asked if her children are the reason she co-executive produced the animated film about an 11-year-old Afghan girl who finds strength in the love of her family, Angie responded warmly.
"They're one of the reasons," she said. "It's a wonderful story for children."
